Installing a padded toilet seat in your bathroom is one of the easiest do it yourself type job that you can do. Save your money by not hiring someone to do it when you can change your toilet seat in less than 15 minutes. Here’s how.

The hardest part you might run into is in removing the old toilet seat. Remember, since a screwdriver and adjustable wrench are made out of steel and your toilet is made of porcelain, you will need to be careful so you don’t scratch and harm your toilet.

Check how your old toilet seat is mounted. You may just be able to use your fingers to unscrew the bolts that are attached. If not, then gently use a screwdriver and adjustable wrench to loosen the bolts. If the bolts won’t turn, then you may need some WD-40 to help loosen them up. Spray it on the bolts and wait a few minutes for it to soak in. If you are still having a problem, then you might (unfortunately) have to call a professional.

To install your new padded toilet seat simply follow the instructions that came with the toilet seat. Most of the bolts that are used now are made of nylon so they are easy to install and remove. Remember not to over tighten the bolts.

After that, just check to see if it wobbles or moves back and forth. Tighten a bit if necessary and then enjoy your new padded toilet seat.
